After many delays for many different reasons, the main Engineering building is finally starting to transition to RUNet2000. The new main router was brought on line last week and we are ready to start to transition machines.

You may remember that last semester, students came around and re-configured machines to use DHCP. This is going to allow us to make the transition much easier.

THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THE MAIN ENGINEERING BUILDING AT THIS TIME.

The procedure for switching to RUNet2000 is as follows.

  • go to http://ecs.rutgers.edu/ipreq_client_update.php3 This will bring up the entry for your machine.

  • Update all of the information. In order to get you on the new subnet we MUST have your correct room number. This is the room number for the machine. Please also update your email address, name and phone number for the primary user of each machine.

  • Once I have this information, I will process the change requests as quickly as I can.

  • Once I have received your update and have processed it, I will send you email telling you to unplug your network connection and plug it into the new RUNet2000 ethernet jack. You must plug into one of the BLACK jacks, not the white ones.

  • Do not switch to the new jack until you have received email back from me. It won't work.

  • NOTE FOR B and D wings. Due to the fact that we started utilizing some of the RUNet2000 wiring for B and D wings, there will be a slight delay. It is VERY important for those people that are already plugged into the new wiring to fill out the form right away. Not until I get all of those entries will I be able to switch over B wing and D wing.
