RUNet2000 does not support Appletalk across the routers. For this reason, there are no longer Appletalk zones in the chooser. You can still do everything that you could before within your own subnet. HOWEVER, it is harder to access devices outside of your subnet.

For printers and file servers within your own subnet, you should continue to use CHOOSER to select them.

To access a printer in another subnet, that printer must have a TCP/IP address. If it does, follow the proceedure below.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You can now print to just about any network connected printer, even Unix printers.

  • Run Desktop Printer Utility

  • Select Printer (LPR)

  • Select the approriate printer description file and set the printer name or TCP/IP address

  • Click Create

  • You will now have a desktop printer icon and it will show up in the selection pop-up menu every time you print from an application.
